Just Announced:
Framework for the Future: Tuesday, June 10, Regina High School in Iowa City. Explore how we implement the new high school faith formation curriculum framework. This day is open to high school principals, campus ministers and theology teachers, as well as parish youth ministry leaders and directors of faith formation. The day will focus on the U.S. Bishops' new framework for high school catechesis and its implementation in parishes and schools in our diocese. Facilitator for both days will be Daniel Mulhall, formerly of the USCCB catechesis office and currently director of consultant services with RCL Benziger. Flier and registration form (pdf) Flier and registration form (word) June Institute: Planning with a Purpose: Wednesday, June 11 at Holy Trinity Parish Hall in Richmond. This one-day event will focus on systemic planning for parish faith formation. It will encourage parish catechetical and youth ministry leaders to move beyond episodic planning, which focuses on events or time frames (such as First Communion or a school year) and toward a formative approach that focuses on ongoing initiation in the faith. Retreat for all who minister in the church: Saturday, September 6, 2008. 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., St. Alphonsus, Mt. Pleasant. The author of Living Like Francis Today, Sr. Marci Blum, OSF will lead a retreat and Bishop Amos will preside at Mass, followed by lunch. Registration for the retreat ($15 per person) will include lunch and a copy of her book. Registration forms will be available on the diocesan web site next month. American Association of Interchurch Families (AAIF): Whether you give pastoral care to an interchurch family or are a member of an interchurch family you are invited to join this organization. Certification Program for all Catechetical Leaders (DRE, CYM, Principals, etc.) and Catechists (all who teach children, youth, and adults). This was created by the Pastoral Services staff and will be distributed to each parish and school in the diocese about the certification program. Information regarding certification and the forms for recording hours may be found in the new Faith Formation Handbook. A brochure with concise information was included in the October mini. The "Echoes of Faith" video/DVD series which is used for certification is available for loan by contact Virginia Trujillo, trujillo@davenportdiocese.org or 563-324-1912 x256. Whole Community Catechesis help available: Orientation and consultation services for the Generations of Faith approach to whole community catechesis is now available through monthly conference calls sponsored by the Center for Ministry Development. Parishes interested in exploring Generations of Faith can call on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. Parishes already involved in Generations of Faith can call on the third Tuesday of each month, also at 1 p.m. To reserve a place on the conference call, contact Kristine@cmdnet.org
