Employer Manual and Staff Handbook Information
The Bishop desires that every entity in the Diocese, including parishes and schools, have a similar set of policies and procedures regarding employment and volunteer work. Each Diocesan entity should have an Employer Procedure Manual and a Staff Handbook that the entity customizes to fit its particular needs and situation and that also contain elements common to all Diocesan entities.
Employer Procedure Manual for Diocesan Entities
provides detailed sections regarding mandatory and optional elements used by the employer. It includes information, background and references particular to the employer's needs. This manual should be customized by including the mandatory elements and the optional elements your entity chooses to adopt.
Staff Handbook for Entities in the Diocese of Davenport
provides a template for creating the customized handbook to give to employees and volunteers. The elements that are required to be included in the handbook are highlighted in bold text. Optional elements that are encouraged by the Bishop are not bolded and may also be included in the handbook. This handbook should be customized by including the mandatory elements and the optional elements your entity chooses to adopt. Staff members, including employees and volunteers who work on a regular basis, should sign their copy of the acknowledgement form in their handbook and retain it. They should also sign a separate copy of the acknowledgement form for you to retain in their personnel file.
