The Iowa Institute for Social Action (IISA) is a
leadership training event for people of faith residing in the four
Catholic dioceses in Iowa. Various speakers and workshops enable
attendees to become better advocates on social justice and peace issues
in their local communities as well as throughout the world.
The Iowa Institute for Social Action is an annual two day
event that traditionally coincides with the Sunday and Monday in January
that honors the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. The 2009 event will be on Sunday, January
18 and Monday, January 19 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Des
Moines, IA.
The event is sponsored by the Iowa Catholic
Conference, the Archdiocese of Dubuque, and the Dioceses of Davenport,
Des Moines and Sioux City. The event is a primarily funding by the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
