The Diocese of Davenport is moving ahead with planning for a capital campaign. A recent study showed strong support for a campaign, which would focus largely on support for retired priests and seminarians.
The diocese’s consulting firm, The Steier Group, recently completed the planning study and presented its findings and recommendations. More than 1,000 people were interviewed or completed a survey. A broad summary of the key findings can be found here.
In a letter to study participants, Bishop Thomas Zinkula said, “In light of the results and in light of our need to act – to build up our church and address the challenges we face – we have decided to move forward with a campaign. I see this as a landmark project for the diocese, one that will honor our past, enhance our present, and create a foundation for our future.”
Campaign preparation work has begun, and the first of three “waves” of campaigns at the parish level will likely take place in the first half of 2022. It will be a two-year process, with the final parish campaigns occurring in 2023. Please watch for more information in the months ahead and pray for the campaign’s success!
