Deacon Formation Program - Class VIII

CONGRATULATIONS to the members of Deacon Formation Class VIII, ordained to the Diaconate on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Sacred Heart Cathedral by Bishop Thomas Zinkula!

Formation for the (permanent) diaconate is divided into three phases: inquiry, aspirancy, and candidacy. During the inquiry phase, those discerning a possible call to the diaconate begin a period of purposeful reflection on this calling. The Aspirancy phase of formation for class VIII is scheduled to begin in August 2017. The first year of Aspirancy focuses on prayer and discernment; the second year on beginning academic studies. The Rite of Admission to Candidacy is scheduled to be celebrated at the end of the second year.

El Aspirantado para la VIII clase empezará en agosto del 2017. Durante el primer año, el aspirante se enfocará en la oración y el descernimiento. Durante el segundo año, empezaremos los estudios académicos y, al finalizar el segundo ao, celebraremos el Rito de Admision a la Candidatura.

2017-18: Year/Año 1

2018-19: Year/Año 2

While discernment continues, candidacy focuses on the holistic formation of those in the program for diaconal ministry. The intellectual, spiritual, pastoral and human dimensions of preparation for ministry as a deacon are all attended to over these three years.

Mientras el discernimiento continúa, la candidatura se centra en la formación integral de las personas en el programa del ministerio diaconal. Las áreas de preparación intelectual, espiritual, pastoral y humana para el ministerio diaconal son todas atendidas durante estos tres años.

2019-20: Year/Año 1

2020-21: Year/Año 2

2021-22: Year/Año 3

During the first five years after ordination, those newly-ordained (and their wives) continue to take part in regular gatherings for formation as a community. Beyond the initial three years after ordination, deacons (and their wives) continue to take part in formation events and retreats for the entire diaconal community. Post-Ordination Formation is the responsibility of the Deacon Personnel Director.

Durante los cinco primeros años después de la ordenación, los recién ordenados (y sus esposas) continuarán participando en reuniones regulares para continuar la formación como una comunidad. Después de los tres primeros años de la ordenación, los diáconos (y sus esposas) continuarán a participando en eventos de formación y en retiros para toda la comunidad diaconal. La formación después de la ordenación es la responsabilidad del Director de Diáconos.
