The Farm Bill and Supplemental Nutrition Support will be the topic of the next Lunch and Learn on (date). The Farm Bill, one of the most significant pieces of legislation Congress must deal with, consists of 12 titles or sections. Title IV, Nutrition, includes SNAP--formerly Food Stamps, which is the pre-eminent supplemental food program in the US, predominantly reaching millions of children, elderly, and disabled persons. To understand where the Farm Bill and SNAP fit into our national budget, we will look briefly at the total national budget before zeroing in Title IV.
