Transforming Lives Around the Worl: The CRS Story
October 7 at 7:00 pm. at the Newman Catholic Student Center
Have you ever considered how you can advocate for those in need and impact the global common good? Hear the story of Deacon Don Weigel in his talk “Transforming Lives Around the World: The CRS Story” on Thursday, October 7 at 7pm. As a Catholic Relief Services Global Fellow, he will share about his passion for the world’s poor, how he was called to action, and what role you can play in the CRS Story. Come learn about disaster relief, ongoing projects in developing countries, and political advocacy. This event will take place at the Newman Catholic Student Center in Iowa City and will be livestreamed on the Iowa Catholic YouTube Channel. This presentation is made possible through the generosity of the Louise Wolf-Novak Social Justice & Service Endowment.
The Global Fellows program empowers seminarians, priests, and deacons to preach about global justice and peace for the purpose of engaging Catholics in the U.S. in global solidarity with those who are poor and vulnerable around the world.
If your parish or a group in your parish would like to schedule a speaker from CRS-Global Fellows Program to come to your parish and speak about CRS programs overseas. Global Fellows are priests and seminarians who have personally visited Catholic Relief Services projects around the world and can share their stories with your parishioners. It is an excellent way to show how our Operation Rice Bowl funds are working in developing countries.
