The Office of Liturgy is available to provide workshops for parishes; past workshops have included a history of the liturgy, the spirituality of liturgical ministry, praying the Mass more intentionally, the Liturgy of the Hours, and the Church's funeral rites. Other workshops/speakers that are available for parishes include:
Preaching
Deacon Frank Agnoli, who has a doctorate in preaching, is available to assist individual priests and deacons hone their homiletic skills as well as help pastors develop homily preparation/feedback groups in their parishes. Click here for contact information.
Cantor Workshops
Patti McTaggart, music minister at St. Mary, Iowa City, and member of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, is available to conduct workshops for cantors and music ministers around the diocese. Workshops for Readers/Lectors
Ken Miller, from St. John Vianney, Bettendorf, is available to help prepare readers/lectors for their ministry. Please contact him at [email protected] or 563-332-8404 if you are interested in having him present a workshop at your parish.
Liturgical Environment - Workshop and Retreats
Gale Francione, a liturgical consultant, is available to do workshops, presentations, and days of reflection on topics related to sacred space. Her particular areas of interest include the use of space in gathering the community, the Eucharist, and the other Sacraments. Gale may be contacted at 563-388-8314.

National Gathering on Christian Initiation: July 30-31, 2025
The National Gathering on Christian Initiation™ invites parish leaders, initiation ministers, and regional or diocesan trainers to come together to explore the theoretical and practical aspects of initiation ministry. Through interactive sessions, meetings, and prayer opportunities, participants will understand more deeply that the vision of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the vision of the parish as a community of disciples.
