The ordination and installation of Bishop-elect Dennis G. Walsh as the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Davenport will be held on Friday, September 27 at 2 PM in Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E 10th St, Davenport.
Only media credentialed by the Diocese of Davenport will be admitted to the press conference following the installation.
Please note: Due to limited seating in the Cathedral, a press gallery will NOT be set aside for your use in the church. No interviews or coverage of the event by the media can take place in the church so as not to disturb the liturgy.
Live streaming of the event will be available for your use in reporting on the Cathedral YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@shcdavenport6262. A ten-minute press conference will be held with Bishop Walsh in the chapel of the Cathedral following the Mass. Individual interviews are not being held at this time.
A media packet will be provided to you on the Diocesan website (below). The online application for press credentials for the press conference is also provided on this website. The deadline for applying for press credentials is Friday, September 20, 2024. Press credentials will be emailed to you. Please contact Emily Pries, Executive Secretary, if you have not received your press credentials by Tuesday, September 24.
In addition, video clips and still photos will be available on this website page within one hour following the end of the Mass.
Parking for the media will be provided in the Cathedral parking lot near the parish hall. Prior to the event, you must go to the parish hall north entrance and present your credentials from the Diocese of Davenport and your company press identification for admittance. The media entrance will be open at 1PM. Please wear your company press identification at all times during the event.
Access to the chapel for the media to setup will begin once the Mass begins at 2 pm. The media is welcome to request interviews with guests prior to the Mass outside of the Cathedral. In case of inclement weather, interviews may take place in the parish hall.
The event is by invitation only. The Diocese has received copyright permission to stream the event. Media outlets will need to obtain separate copyright permission depending on their needs.
