The Mission Cooperative Plan (MCP) of the Diocese of Davenport promotes awareness of missions worldwide in the parishes throughout the Diocese. Each year representatives of missionary congregations are invited to visit select parishes to share their experience and ask for financial support and prayers. Groups applying to the Missionary Cooperative Plan must be in good standing serving in foreign countries or in a diocese in the United States that has been designated as a missionary by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Below are the mission that were selected for 2024 to do Mission Appeals at the Diocese of Davenport. Please keep them in your prayers as they make appeals in our Diocese.

GROUP 12. Diocese of GunturThe Diocese of Guntur is a Mission Diocese. The Dioceses has 21, 7960 Catholics, 106 parishes, and 176 priests. The Diocese has limited financial resources creating challenges to serve the poor. The Diocese is operating 61 Boarding homes/Orphanages to the poor children below the age of 14 years. There are about 3000 children residing and studying in these Orphanages. The majority of the funds receive from 2024 Mission Appeals will go towards helping these orphanages.

Group 13. Diocese of Mandeville Jamaica W. I
The Diocese of Mandeville is among the smallest dioceses with about 600,000 in population. Is also among the poorest of the three-dioceses in Jamaica. 85% of their budget is supported by the Missions Appeals. MCP appeals are essential to enable them to evangelize and provide basic dignity to the poor.

The Congregation of the Sisters of Emmanuel is quite indigenous and was founded in 1989, in the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a, in Kenya. One of their Social Ministry programs they run is a vocational training center, known as the Emmanuel Skill Centre. Its aim is to alleviate the dignity of the vulnerable girls and empower them. During the COVID-19 pandemic many girls became pregnant and dropped out of school. Because of this situation the Sisters of Emmanuel created the Vocational Training Center to engage the girls in a useful productive way. The main purpose of this project is to empower and change the mindset of the vulnerable girls from oppressive social structure and help them cut down the chain of poverty. Skill that the center provides are Dressmaking, Knitting, hairdressing, bead work. Also provide computer literacy classes.

GROUP 16. School Sisters of St. Francis |
School Sisters of St. Francis live the Good News of Jesus and serve those in need around the world. They serve in India, Africa, and Latin America. They also serve in Europe and the United States. Any money collected from this Mission Appeal would be distributed between their mission in India, Africa and Latin America. Their mission priorities in this areas include Assisi Special School, a school for physically challenged children in Bangalore, India; programs in Guatemala, which provide educational resources for young women and girls as well as nutritional support for children and families; and the village of La Libertad in Honduras, where a clinic is run by the sisters and they provide much-needed natural medicine assistance to the people of the village. They have about 6,000 missionary priests and Brothers in more than 70 countries and serve in 79 nations on every continent except Antarctica. They bring the Word of God to the most impoverished and remote areas in the world. On example of their work is the drilling of deep wells in remote villages of Togo. In the past few years they have drill more than 30 wells. Residents can now draw life sustaining water from the center of their village, and women no longer have to carry heavy jugs from the nearest river. Divine Word Missionaries are dedicated to encourage all people to open their hearts and share God's love. One of the largest U.S. Catholic organizations sending laypeople into global mission. They have more than 900 missioners who have accompanied the people experiencing poverty and marginalization around the world. Though their ministries in Bolivia, Brazil, El Salvador, Cambodia, Haiti, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan and the U.S Mexico border they seek to change unjust structures, foster hope, and promote reconciliation. They assist those living in extreme poverty and victims of human trafficking, person imprisoned, and those affected by war.

GROUP 19. Franciscan Mission Service of North AmericaIs a vibrant organization with strong ecclesial leadership, and over 30 years of experience in lay mission work. The Franciscan Mission Service prepares and supports lay Catholics for two-year international, one-year domestic and 1-2 week short-term mission service opportunities. Was founded in 1980 during El Salvador's civil war by a Cleveland Diocese Mission Team, known as the COAR Pease Mission.
COAR (The Community Oscar Arnulfo Romero) in Zaragoza, El Salvador is a foster care facility for 50-100 children (infants - high school) that wants to provide all the knowledge, faith, and love to make them successful citizens and Christians. In El Salvador the children attend a parish school, receive on-site medical and dental treatment, and are care for by knowledgeable staff of local Salvadorian teachers. 100% of the MCP funds raised will go to the COAR children. Is a Home Mission Diocese established in 1988. Poverty is prevalent and ten of its counties are designated among the poorest in the United States. Catholics represent only 3% of the total population. In the mountainous Appalachian region, the population is less than 1% Catholic and 60% of the people are reportedly un-churched. Their Catholic presence in eastern Kentucky focus on evangelization and offering service to everyone they are messengers of hope in their challenging circumstances. Most households require the help of other to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, and medicine.

Is located in the North West of Tanzania. Currently has 58 seminarians and annually each seminarian has to pay $2,500. The diocese and poor families are not in good economic position to meet the whole of these expenses. They are looking to raise funds needed to meet the cost of training seminarians in the Diocese of Bukoba that has a population of 1.1 million people out of whom 58% are Catholics.

Was stablished in 1975 to meet the immediate needs of those living in poverty in Juarez, Mexico. Over time the mission evolved and in 1988, in partnership with a group of Teresina Sisters, they established the Centro de Bachillerato Agustin Pro. A preparatory school to educated students ages 15-18 for three years, the equivalent of grades 10-12. The curriculum includes Science, Technology, and Computer skills. Currently about 82% of the graduates are entering various institutions of higher education around the city. The current enrollment is 290 students, with a small majority being females.
The main source of employment in the city are factories. Currently the average factory worker earns around $5-12 per day. The city has also been plagued with drug, cartels and violence and is one of the most dangerous cities. The goal of the San Alfonso Mission is to give students a better future with a stable income and the ability to support a family. Funds collected from MCP will be use to provide scholarships for those students who are unable to afford to attend the school.

Is a Diocese along the Atlantic Ocean close to the Republic of Togo. It was created in 1994. It covers an area of 7,470 kilometers and it has a population of 785,000 people, and 15% are Catholics. Funds collected from MCP will help the Diocese train more lay leaders, especially catechists. The youth and young women who have drop-out from normal education system in the country.
Part of the funds from the MCP will support boarding and lodging of the physically challenged children who are pursuing education and trade training in the Diocese. The funds will go to pay the teachers. Another part of the funds will provide qualified facilitators and materials for the youth training. Funds will also help train the young women to establish themselves as bread winners for the family.

GROUP 26. Salesian Missions
The Mission Office was founded in 1947 by Fr. James O’Loughlen to ulfill the needs of orphans and vulnerable children They 30,000 Priests, Brothers, Sisters and novices serving in over 130 countries around the globe.
The primary purpose of the Salesian Mission is
To raise funds that support the works of nearly 30,000 missionaries including Salesian Priests, Brothers, Sisters and novices who assist poor youth and families in more than 130 countries around the world, including the United States.
To build awareness of the Salesians of St. John Bosco, the second largest order in the Catholic Church.
To promote and encourage prayer and the principles of St. John Bosco, which are reason, kindness and religion.
